Lantern Globes for the Mercantile

Another new item for the Mercantile are my Handmade Lantern Globes. These are a spin on a snow globe, without the snow or glitter on the inside. They celebrate the beauty of nature that surrounds Tee Lake Resort.

Each Lantern has a handmade scene created for the inside of the globe. Currently I have two different scenes, one of a Bear on a rock, and one of a Deer in the woods. Once the inside scene is created then the lantern is put together.

The great thing about these globes are that each one can be custom made. Currently these items have a sign on the inside of the globe that points your way to Tee Lake. However the sign could have your last name or any other special message you want on it. If you want a custom one please send me an email. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

Winter Jan 20, 2013

Here are some photos of the beautiful winter's day we are having at Tee Lake Resort on Jan 20, 2013. We received about an inch of snow over the night, which created a fresh clean white blanket for the sun  to reflect off of. The blue skies with the white clouds and the sun reflecting off the white snow looks amazing. People always ask us how can you live in Michigan after living in sunny Florida? We like to look at the positives of where we are, and on a day like today it's easy to see the positives. You don't get to see beauty likes this everywhere. Life is what you make of it no matter where you are, so get out and live your life.

New Coasters at the Mercantile

We are busy working on new designs and new merchandise for the 2013 season! Here is a look at one of the new items we will have this year, Tee Lake Coasters. Each tile is 4in by 4in, and have felt backing. The cost for the set is $10. We currently have 2 styles to offer you.

The first is our "Greetings from Tee Lake" postcard art that Andy designed last year. We both love those vintage postcard from the 40's and 50's, and Andy did a great job creating that look and feel on our postcard. The great thing about this coaster set, is it also is great artwork for your coffee table. Each tile has a part of the image on it and when all four are placed together it forms the complete piece of art.

The second set of coasters has our "Cabin Icons" art on it. This artwork that Andy designed is also available on a four pack of note cards and a four pack of magnets. It's not only a great gift for our Tee Lake Family but for those who love the "Up North" feel. Again it also make great artwork for your coffee table.

Continue to watch for new items in the near future. We are excited for all the new offerings we will have this year. We are also working on a Etsy store were all our items can be purchased.

Have a great day!!!

Christmas Ornament 2013

These are photos of our Christmas Ornament for our 2013 season. Our Tee Lake Family will recognize this graphic from our Christmas card that they will be receiving this year. The Illustration was done by  Andy Bauer and the ornaments were then hand crafted by me, Dave Gugel. The shadow box ornament was created because we love old vintage ornaments. We both have ornaments from when we were kids that when you look into it, you feel like you could enter  into the scene. That's what we want people to feel, like they want to escape into our winter wonderland. Happy Holidays!!!!

Christmas Merchandise

Here is a practice piece for future Merchandise for the Mercantile. I've seen these in stores and have always loved them. Since it's the holiday season I thought I would first attempt this as a Christmas themed one. I love the way it turned out and I'm excited to try more soon.

Mercantile- Lakeside line of merchandise

Tee Lake Themed Oar Art

New to the Mercantile is our Lakeside line of merchandise that I'm creating. This line is inspired by lake living. It offers new artwork with a vintage/rustic feel, and it's all hand painted by myself. There are buoys, oar art, and an assortment of signs. The "38" that is featured on some of the items is the year that the Resort was established.

Tee Lake Themed Buoys

All pieces are custom, so if you want specific colors, dates or sayings please contact me. One option on how to customize these would be to put your kids  initials and their birth dates on the buoys.

These items will be featured in the cabins as well as the Mercantile.

Deer Trail Cabin Rehab Continues

Deer Trail Cabin Rehab
Work continues on Deer Trail Cabin. I've replaced the old lighting with a new ceiling fan and set of lights over the counter area. Drywall has also been installed in the peak area where there was only studs. I've painted it and trimmed it out. It looks so much better now that the ceiling and beams are exposed. I'll be posting one more time after I have the cabin staged again, otherwise you will have to make a reservation for Deer Trail to see it in person. Thanks for following the progress on the cabin.

New to the Mercantile

New to the Mercantile is a set of magnets of the four cabin icons. These are hand crafted by myself. The artwork was created by the Andy Bauer Studio. This was a fun craft project for me to do, and I love how the packaging came out. Each magnet is 1 inch in diameter, and have a very strong magnet on the back. It is $5 for the set.

Deer Trail Cabin Rehab Part-1

Deer Trail Cabin rehab photos
It's day 4 of my interior rehab project in Deer Trail and here's a little update. I removed the drop down ceiling to give it that open feel that the other cabins already have. To my surprise I found some old messages from past guests that had stayed here in the 1960's. Click on the image to view more photos. It's so fun finding things like this. I love to learn about the history of the Resort, and I couldn't think of a more fun way to gain some information. Tomorrow will be a day of varnishing the wood ceiling, and then it's on to the new lighting. I'll continue to post updates as I get things done.

Tee Lake Furniture

I'm working on rehabbing and building new furniture for the cabins. I LOVE to rehab furniture, it's so therapeutic for me. I plan on opening a small shop to sell pieces that I have reworked, hopefully by this summer. We currently have Tee Lake Mercantile where we sell Tee Lake Resort themed merchandise. I want to expand into more of my furniture pieces and some 5 and Dime type items. A place that has a 50's feel were families from the lake ride their bikes to. I'll keep you posted as we continue to work on this.

Winter Snow Leap Day

Our 2012 Leap Day gave us a fresh new layer of snow. Even though spring is just around the corner, this is a beautiful site to see. The layers of snow on the trees makes for a winter wonderland.
